# Putting TourCockpit on your phone's home screen

TourCockpit can sit on your phone's home screen as an icon, and open from it full screen, straight onto the board, like any other app. There is nothing to download from a store: the app adds itself from the browser, in a tap or a few.

## What is the Add this app to your home screen line?

On a phone, the top of every page reads Add this app to your home screen, with Add beside it, until you open TourCockpit from its icon. Press Add and the phone takes you through it. Close it with the cross and it stays away for three days on that phone, then comes back; in a private window, which keeps nothing, it is back on the next page.

Once you have opened TourCockpit from the home screen icon, the line is gone for good on that phone. On an iPhone the browser never learns that the icon exists, so if you keep opening the address in Safari as well, the line still comes back there every three days.

The same thing is in the menu under your name, as Install the app, whenever the app is not already running from its icon, and it does not wait for the three days. On a computer it is there only where the browser can install a page in one step, as Chrome and Edge can.

## What happens on an Android phone?

Add opens the phone's own install window. Confirm it and the icon is on your home screen. Turning it down counts as closing the line: it comes back in three days. If the phone does not offer that window, TourCockpit shows the steps instead: open the browser's menu, tap Add to Home Screen or Install app, and confirm.

## What happens on an iPhone?

An iPhone does not let a page add itself, so Add opens Add to your home screen, with the steps for the browser you are in, the phone's own buttons in bold. In Safari it is five taps: ... at the bottom right, Share, View More, Add to Home Screen, then Add.

On an older iPhone, Share is right in Safari's toolbar: tap it, then Add to Home Screen. In Chrome on an iPhone, tap Share in the address bar, or ... and then Share, then Add to Home Screen and Add.

In any other browser the steps are the general ones: the browser's menu, then Add to Home Screen or Install app, then confirm. Press Done to close the steps.

The first time you open TourCockpit from the icon on an iPhone, sign in once more. The phone keeps the icon's sign-in apart from the browser's; after that it stays signed in.

## What is the app on my home screen?

The same TourCockpit you use in the browser, opened full screen and onto the board. Added from your company's own address, it carries your company's name, and its logo when the company has one on Company; without a logo, it carries the TourCockpit sun. An icon added before the company had a logo keeps the old one until you remove it and add it again.

It works only with a connection, as the browser does, and it is always the current TourCockpit: there is nothing to update. To remove it, remove it the way you remove any app on the phone; nothing in TourCockpit changes.
