# What's new, beside the bell

A second control sits next to the inbox bell and carries the changes you have not read yet, this one among them. An entry counts as read once it has actually been in front of you for a moment, never because you opened the panel, so the number beside the bell means something. Read entries stay in the list, dimmed, so nothing you scrolled past is lost.
